Accomodation

Acier is a Bruce Roberts 370 built to a high standard as commented on within the 2014 survey report. She is built from 4mm plate on the hull and 3mm on deck and coachroof.  She has rolled chines and faired so looks like a GRP hull with sprayed 2 pack epoxy finished in blue.  She had professionally applied insulation foam from the waterline up which makes her very pleasant to be aboard with minimal condensation in the cold or heating from the sun on a hot day.  She has a forepeak and V berths for 2 with storage and hanging locker space.  Lee cloths in the main saloon allows 2 more berths and in addition there is a pull out side berth to port behind the seat back to create a pilot berth.  She has an owners cabin at the stern with double bed which is accessed along a side walkway.  In total she can sleep 7.

Both aft cabin and forepeak have large opening hatches.  The galley is located to port of the companionway steps and has a well insulated fridge and double sink.  The galley also occupies the first part of the walkway to the stern and has a Taylors gas oven, 2 burner stove as well as grill and hotplate.  There is also a gas instant hot water Rinai system giving easy hot water if you are not connected to shore power or the calorifier has not been heated from the engine if you are at anchor.

There is abundant locker storage either overhead or under seats and behind seat backs. All joinery is to a high standard and features solid teak which has been varnished and burnished giving a high quality professional appearance. To starboard of the companionway is a large locker for  bikes or fenders etc and adjacent to this is a heads compartment with Jabsco Head and shower with deep tray allowing for sit down showering. The chart table faces outboard and has a pull out seat to allow use of this full size chart table with numerous draws and storage with the instrument panel and VHF at the rear of this panel.

The engine is a Nissan 55HP diesel with just 600 hours use, there is a smart charger and the water pump has just been professionally rebuilt.  The propeller shaft is attached to a water cooled hydraulic gearbox and aqua drive and the propeller is a high quality4 blade feathering model.

Rig

The rig is masthead aluminium with double headsail solent configuration featuring a large reaching sail on the outer furler and a smaller upwind sail on the aft furler.  There is a removeable inner forestay and pelican hook which allows a purpose made orange storm jib to be hoisted.  The mainsail is a battened dacron slabreef and in addition there is a cruising Asymmetric spinnaker that has a snuffer.  All sails were made specifically for Acier by Sanders sails in 2015 and are finished with a tan UV strip.  All sails are in excellent condition with the spinnaker and storm jib as new. All reefing lines are led back to clutches in the cockpit to allow easy reefing and there are 2 winches mounted on the mast.

A 4 man liferaft in deck mounted canister as well as horseshoe lifebuoys, danbuoy and retrieval system is included. There is a 20KG Bruce anchor with 100m chain and electric windlass with deck mounted operating buttons.  The deck has Tread Master panels in addition to non-slip cream 2 pack paint.

The main is sheeted to an easy double speed system at the back of the cockpit and the headsails have their own winches with the Lewmar primaries at size 46 in chrome. All sheets are included for the headsails, spinnaker and storm jib.

Electrical

There is a bow thruster (Sidepower) with wireless remote with a 24v system of 2 spiral Odyssey batteries (new 2021) which are charged by a 12v to 24v charger.  In addition there is an Odyssey micro battery for the windlass (new 2021) and 2 large domestic Exide AGM batteries (210 Ah 2021).  Acier has a 240v shore power system including a battery charger and water heater.  She has a ring main and there is space for a generator behind the engine if required.  The system is charged significantly by 2 very large solar panels mounted on the stern gantry and regulated by a Victron bluetooth MPPT controller which meets nearly all energy needs.

Additional Information

Saloon

The saloon includes bespoke cabinetry in solid teak with a mixture of burnished and gloss varnish creating a high class finish. To starboard is a chart table with pull out stool and lift up under table storage as well as many draws for cutlery and other items. The forward bulkhead features a fold down dining table which hinges over to double its size as well as pulling across to give extra leg room for the port side diners. In addition there is also an occasional small table mounted for coffee etc next to the starboard settee. Behind the starboard settee are seatback storage as well as under seat storage and then deep shelves and a series of solid teak cabinets to give ample capacity for off shore sailing. The water tanks are located under each side of the settees and feature Perspex inspection hatches. To port behind the settee are additional storage areas and also a pull out pilot berth. In addition the port settee also has a trotter box and lee cloth for sleeping at sea. At the aft end of this berth is a Dickinson Arctic diesel heater with stainless steel chimney which provides ample heat whilst using no electrical power as it is fed through a gravity fed day tank system which is safe and maintenance free. Aft of the chart table to starboard is a large cupboard which can be used for bicycle storage/paddleboard or other large items. Aft again is the heads and shower with shallow bath tray which also has access to the side of the engine behind well insulated hatches.
